SQS Vláknová optika se 20. – 21. 11. 2012 zúčastnila konference a výstavy FOHEC (Fiber Optics in Harsh Environments Conference) v britském Swindonu. Ilja Kopáček z SQS vystoupil s přednáškou „Splittery pro náročná prostředí v aplikacích pro AirPON“ (AirPON - síť PON na palubách letadel). SQS, jako člen skupiny DAPHNE, se účastnila také dvoudenní doprovodné výstavy, kde přestavovala především speciální splitterový modul s pákovým zasouvacím a zamykacím mechanizmem pro připojení do RM boxů na palubách letadel, a sériové/paralelní uspořádání RM boxů. K účastníkům konference FOHEC v minulosti patřili hlavně zástupci firem z leteckého, kosmického, obranného a námořního průmyslu, její zaměření však postupně přilákalo také účastníky z automobilového, železničního, ropného, plynárenského, chemického a vojenského automobilního průmyslu.

SQS Vlaknova optika a.s. has developed a new technology for application of an optical antireflection coating to the surface of fiber optic components (e.g. connector ferrules, lenses, fiber optic arrays etc.) to reduce unwanted back reflections of transferred optical signal. Thanks to the newly developed technology SQS may design and manufacture special fiber optic connector interfaces operating over defined wavelength range capable of transferring high-power signals with low reflectivity. Moreover, by applying the antireflection coating to polarization maintaining (PM) optical fiber assemblies, SQS may guarantee not only current excellent value of polarization extinction ratio (PER) but also an excellent value of back reflection which makes them predisposed to the most demanding applications, e.g. in sensor technology.

SQS expands its fiber optics product portfolio with another item – EZ-Band 4.8mm fiber optic cable connector terminations. EZ-Band 4.8 fiber optic cable has been designed for both indoor and outdoor use especially in FTTx access networks. The structure of EZ-Bend cable jacketing 4.8 has been developed so that the cable could be exposed to maximum bends (minimum radius bends) with negligible changes in transmission parameters or with minimal impact on the loss of the transmitted optical signal. EZ-Bend 4.8 optical cable main applications are in fiber optic networks installations in multiple dwelling buildings (MDU distribution systems) and in domestic fiber optic networks in the homes of end users.
Between March 20 and 23, 2012, SQS attended the international trade fair Amper, which was for the second year held in Brno. And according to the media response, BVV Brno (or Trade Fairs Brno) suits Amper very well – it was reflected in increased participation of exhibitors and visitors. SQS presented not only its current range of fiber optic components, but also some special solutions of optical components developed by its own R&D department, in close cooperation with customers and/or with experts from the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, and leading technical universities (Technical University of Prague, Institute of Chemical Technology of Prague, University of Technology in Brno, Technical University of Ostrava). This is especially about solutions of optical components for specific applications in harsh industrial environments including e.g. sensor technology, medical engineering, and measurement technology, aerospace, automotive, chemical and other industries. Solutions addressing these components are often built on a combination of SQS know-how, experience and skills already mastered accompanied by new technologies, e.g. such as PM, High-Power and ARC (i.e. applying anti-reflective coating on an optical connector ferrule).
The SQS Fiber Optics has been invited to participate in supporting business mission of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Karel Schwarzenberg, to the Philippines and Vietnam held between March 18 and 23, 2012. SQS accepted and as a member of the Czech delegation participated in several official meetings in the Ministries of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam, and also in relevant business forums organized by chambers of commerce of the individual countries. SQS has been presented there as a Czech manufacturer focused on high-tech production of fiber optic and optoelectronic components used in various telecommunications and demanding harsh-environments applications including automotive, aerospace, power, and other industries.
As every year, the SQS is to participate in the exhibition accompanying a seminar on the current situation and expected developments in technology and construction of FTTx networks in the Czech Republic, organized by ProFiber between March 15 and 16, 2012 at the College of Informatics and Communications in Brno. SQS will exhibit the traditional range of fiber optic components and some news of its own component development.
SQS Vlaknova optika (SQS Fiber Optics) is going to attend the conference and exhibition SPIE Photonics West held between 21 and 26 January 2012, in The Moscone Center, San Francisco, USA. Photonics West is one of the world’s largest events and a market place for the Photonics, Biophotonics, and Laser Industry. The 2012 program has two world-class exhibitions (Photonics West Exhibition and BiOS Expo Exhibition) and a strong technical program focused on the latest development in the field of photonics, laser, and biomedical optics.
The SQS Service s.r.o. was founded at the end of 2011. The new company was established on the base of SQS long-term experience with encapsulation of optoelectronic components at the level of wafer, including especially processes of die bonding, wire bonding, casting, and molding. SQS Service has been built on the idea of focusing on customer services especially on development of production processes, technology and their applications based on new trends in optoelectronics and optoelectronic components encapsulation. All current activities of SQS Vlaknova optika a.s. remain unchanged. SQS Vlaknova optika continues with its primary focus on development and manufacturing fiber-optic and optoelectronic products. The main orientation of the SQS Service company is the provision of services; wide range of customer services in the area of optoelectronics including: - Development of production processes - Development of technological equipment and special single-purpose machines - Modification of existing process equipment - Testing or Test Laboratory services (long-term testing of products and machines) - Consultancy on the production of optoelectronic components and encapsulation - Installation of new machinery and technology - Service of production facilities
SQS Vlaknova optika is going to attend Optical Communications 2011 - the conference and exhibition held in Prague, Czech Republic from October 20 to 21. In addition to product presentation at the exhibition, which takes place only on the first day of the event (i.e. October 20), SQS will have its representation also in the conference program itself. Tomas Radobersky will be presenting his lecture on "Athermal Arrayed Waveguide Grating Multiplexers” that had successfully passed the selection of the conference program committee, and was included in the Application and Technical Section of the Conference. Another SQS representative at the conference of Optical Communication 2011 will be Ondrej Barkman as speaker in the science section of the conference with his lecture "Design and Modeling of the Single Mode Optical Glass Waveguides for Passive Photonics Structures” on results of the SQS research project solved in cooperation with Czech Technical University – Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and Institute of Chemical Technology of Prague.
Between September 19 and 21 SQS will be presenting its products and services at the ECOC trade fair in Geneva, Switzerland. Besides, at the ECOC conference, we will present results of our part in Daphne project – an international project on development of optical network for airplanes. The presentation will feature testing results of temperature cycling and vibration of PLC 1x2 and 1x12 planer splitters in plastic as well as metal housing developed for RTCA DO 160E(D) standard. Further we will show results from testing of breakouts (FO boxes) in metal housing facilitating transition from 12 strand ribbon cable to 900um PTFA tubing. Further we will show vibrational effect of front plane and backplane PON distribution boxes onto the virtual optical channels transmitting a movie between OLT and ONT. We will also mention result from parallel transmission of digital and analog signals over the PON network. ECOC – the European conference on optical communications is Europe's largest event of the optical communication industry, and a traditional meeting place for people dealing with fiber optics and communication technologies for optical networks. 3. odborná konference FTTH OSTRAVA 2011 na téma „Výstavba sítí FTTH - optické vlákno až do domu“ se koná 8. a 9. 9. 2011 v areálu VŠB Ostrava. Účastníci konference se rekrutují především z řad dodavatelů pasivních a aktivních optických komponentů, měřicí techniky, zařízení pro výstavbu sítí, montážních firem, telekomunikačních operátorů, stavebních společností a developerů. Konference se pravidelně účastní také zástupci městských úřadů, grantoví partneři pro výstavbu sítí FTTH a v neposlední řádě také pracovníci státních a vzdělávacích institucí. Tradičním účastníkem je také SQS Vláknová optika, která zde kromě svých produktů na doprovodné výstavě, bude v rámci odborných přednášek prezentovat nově vyvíjené pasivní vlnové odbočnice s teplotní kompenzací AAWG.
