Besides optical-fiber components production, SQS offers test, measurement and monitoring equipment including Monitoring Link System (MLS) for active monitoring of fiber optic lines by measuring of attenuation in a fiber, TUNEX - a device for eccentricity measurements and tuning of optical connectors, and ER Meter for extinction ratio measurements and an automatic alignment to the slow axis of PM (Polarization Maintaining) optical fibers.

Monitoring Link System Concept

Monitorovací linkový systém MLS je soubor hardwarové a softwarové výbavy sloužící k nepřetržitému dohledu optických přenosových tras za účelem:

  • Active monitoring of fibre optic lines by measuring of attenuation in a fiber.
  • Based on IEC and Telcordia recommendations for active monitoring.
  • Combined Transmissive and/or OTDR measurements with automatic switching option.
  • Modular system of hardware units fully equipped with sophisticated software.

 

MLS is a flexible active monitoring system based on continuous monitoring of power levels with an immediate detection of signal power changes in monitored networks. It provides combined transmissive and/or OTDR measurements with automatic switching option resulting in a powerful supervising system. Sophisticated software for central remote supervision and archiving of obtained transmission data is included.

TM Monitoring:

  • Continuous measurement of optical lines by direct method and monitoring of attenuation on operated or free optical fibres of the cable.
  • Direct signalling of sudden power changes and breakdowns as well as gradual deteriorating of transmission parameters.

MLS Features:

  • Gradual long-term very precise measurement of stability of optical power levels on optical fibres in the whole operational temperature range.
  • Fast detection of changes in optical power levels and detection of breakdowns with possibility of their signalling and position localization.
  • Modular structure containing all types of sub assemblies (radiation transmitters, receivers, communicators, optical couplers and WDM modules) in different variations and configurations, that make possible to optimise MLS system for a wide spectrum of usage.
  • Possibility of monitoring the operational or free fibres in loop or terminal configurations.
  • Communication interface RS 485 and Ethernet (LAN) TCP/IP protocols.
  • Central remote control with entire data saving and archiving with standard software, or custom based upon customers request.
