Optical fiber patch cables with Diamond connectors are still among the best that can be found on the fiber optics market today, mainly thanks to the technology of active core alignment for the optical fiber core centering in the connector ferrule.
Active core alignment is enabled by multilayer ferrules (titanium, ceramic). The goal of fiber core centering is to reduce the insertion loss of the connector while minimizing the eccentricity of the cores in the connector connection. The alignment process centers the fiber core relative to the geometric axis of the ferrule.
