As part of the SQS Laser Center project, SQS is establishing a vocational high school called the First Technical Lyceum of Nová Paka (Prvni technicke lyceum Nova Paka - PTLNP) with a focus on fiber optics, mechatronics and laser technology. The above-standard equipped technical lyceum will be located in a completely renovated villa in Kotíková street, connected to the laboratories of the SQS Laser Center. The start of first-year classes for 15–20 students of the technical lyceum is planned for September 2025. SQS will present the new secondary school at the Presentation of Secondary Schools and Employers (PSŠZ) exhibition:
Trutnov 11.-12.10.
Jičín 18.-19.10.
Hradec Králové 15.-16.11.
PSŠZ is an event organized by the Regional Chamber of Commerce of the Hradec Králové Region with the aim of presenting interesting secondary schools and employers in our region and inspiring pupils in the last years of primary school when choosing to study at secondary school.
The SQS educational center DS Saurus accepts children in the kindergarten on an ongoing basis according to the current availability.
School fees 1,700 CZK per monthalso includes all activities such as swimming, skating or skiing lessons, trips, theater, cinema, workshops with parents, sleeping in DS Saurus and more.
The founder and operator of the Saurus children's group is the company SQS Vláknová optika.
The facility is open to all children from 2 years of age (according to the child's abilities).
DS Saurus is an above-standard preschool facility located in a completely renovated family house in Havlíčková street in Nová Paca. The children have at their disposal very well-equipped facilities with playrooms, a quiet room/sleeping room, a kitchen, a dining room and a classroom. For outdoor activities, there is a private enclosed garden with sandpits, flower beds and play elements. The year-round operation is ensured by qualified staff according to an elaborate educational and educational plan with an emphasis on individual approach, the use of modern didactic aids and, above all, a pleasant family atmosphere.

(updated) In the last week of March SQS attended OFC 2024 in San Diego, United States. This is a very important event with the aim of supporting the company's activities on the highly competitive American market. Among the main products that SQS presented at its booth, there are optical interconnect modules with fiber arrays and collimating microlenses specially developed for connecting optical fibers to photonic integrated circuits. Not only these components themselves are revolutionary news, but also the method of their production using automated production processes.

On November 14, 2023, students of the Nová Paka High School graduation year visited SQS Vláknová optika. The excursion took place as part of a mathematics seminar led by Professor RNDr. Jana Vašková with the aim not only to follow up on the topics discussed in class, but also to inspire students when deciding on their next direction after successfully completing grammar school.
At the beginning of the excursion, the director of the development department, Ing. Zdeněk Zach briefly introduced the company and SQS product groups, including the specific use of individual products in practice. The presentation also included a list of university faculties whose graduates will find very good employment in a technologically advanced company such as SQS. This was followed by a tour of the company. In smaller groups led by experienced development engineers, students toured the SQS production facilities, development workshops and laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technologies for the development and production of cutting-edge products in fiber optics, optoelectronics and laser technology.
SQS is an open society that welcomes and supports students' interest in technical fields. We believe that company tours and SQS presentations at events for young people will inspire them when deciding on their future studies and that after completing it they will return to their region and apply for interesting jobs in the very company that inspired them - SQS Fiber Optics.
SQS allows organized groups of students from technical high schools and universities to take excursions connected with a tour of the production premises, development department and laboratories. For many years, SQS has cooperated, for example, with the Higher Vocational School and the Secondary Technical School in Jičín and offers gifted students the possibility of a long-term part-time job, internship, help with writing a final thesis or completing an internship with the prospect of employment after graduation.
On 13-14 October 2023, the Presentation of Secondary Schools and Employers will take place in Jičín's Masaryk Theater. On Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., students in the last years of elementary school will be able to get to know the participating secondary schools and employers from the Jičín district and get inspired when choosing a school and a possible future employer. SQS is already a traditional participant of this interesting event. The aim of the organizers, the Regional Chamber of Commerce, is to connect pupils with schools and potential employers.
On October 4, 2023, the district round of the Talents for Companies competition will take place. The venue for the competition focused on the support and popularization of technology and technical professions among children and youth will once again be the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering High School in Nova Paka. The participants of the competition will test their skills, digital knowledge, ability to communicate between schoolmates, but also with adult experts who are the captains of individual teams. Traditionally, a team led by an expert from SQS will also participate in the competition. The organizer of the competition is the Regional Chamber of Commerce of the Hradec Králové Region. The picture shows the successful "Team of the Future SQS" from last year's national all-round finals of the competition where they took 4th place.
SQS Fiber Optics will participate in the Laser World of Photonics trade fair, which takes place in the last week of June, 27.-30. 6. in Munich. We would like to welcome you to our stand No. 413 in hall B2 and present not only our existing and completely new products from our development and production, but also the company's current direction and new company development projects, such as the SQS Laser Center project involving the construction of new production and development premises and the establishment of a vocational secondary school focused on fiber optics, mechatronics and laser technology.
The SQS presentation will focus on four main product groups: fiber bundles including laser cables, fiber arrays including photonic integrated circuit (PIC) solutions, fiber optic bushings and laser sources.

And last but not least, this event also includes the World of Photonics Congress, which takes place in the neighboring ICM — International Congress Center. The extensive lecture program starts two days before the fair (June 25, 2023).
SQS Fiber Optics will participate in the Live Career Library event, where prominent employers from the Jičín District will present interesting careers as inspiration and motivation for 8th and 9th graders when choosing their further education to prepare for future employment. At the SQS booth, they will have the opportunity to experience the profession of "special order technician" involved in the development and production of high-precision optomechanical components in the field of fiber optics and laser technology, and to speak directly with the technician who performs this position at SQS. The event takes place on 12 April 2023 in the Masaryk Theater in Jičín.
Children from the SQS Saurus company kindergarten, which has been open to all children since last November (not only for children from employees' families), welcomed the coming spring. In the morning circle, they exercised, repeated the song Spring Makes Experiments and blew away the winter during breathing exercises with cotton wool. Then they built a tulip from the playing blocks and learned to draw it. After a snack, on a walk around the kindergarten neighborhood, the children looked for and recognized the signs of spring, such as spring flowers, buds on tree branches and singing birds.
