Our optical fiber arrays deliver exceptional performance with a typical fiber placement accuracy of 1 µm and an angular error of just 5 mrad, ensuring high precision for advanced sensor and optical switch applications.

We offer customer-specific fiber arrangements using state-of-the-art Selective Laser Etching (SLE) technology, which enables us to drill precise micro-holes in fused silica for optimal fiber placement. Our matrices are fully customizable in terms of fiber layout and external dimensions, supporting single mode (SM), multimode (MM), or polarization-maintaining (PM) fibers. Additionally, our arrays can be connectorized with a broad range of interfaces, including MTP, MT, MMC, FC, LC, E2000, and V-groove arrays.

After gluing the fibers, the array’s front face is precision polished at custom angles—typically 0°, 6°, or 8°. To further enhance optical performance, an anti-reflective coating can be applied, or the array can be actively aligned with a microlens array (MLA). The complete assembly can be mounted in a metal holder or housing, fabricated in-house using advanced CNC machining centers, ensuring robust performance and durability in any industrial setting.

Advantages

  • High-precision custom fiber placement with submicron accuracy
  • Support for various fiber types, including SM, MM, and PM combinations
  • Custom-specified end-face polishing angles (0°, 6°, 8°, or per request)
  • Optional anti-reflective coating for reduced optical losses
  • Active alignment with microlens arrays (MLA) for enhanced performance
  • Integration into metal flanges or housings for secure mounting
  • Connector interfaces: MTP, MT, MMC, FC, LC, E2000, and V-groove arrays

Applications

  • MEMS optical switches
  • Multi-channel optical rotary couplers
  • Sensor applications
  • Fiber connection to optical integrated circuit (PIC)

*) Precise fiber positioning in two axes. The distance between the real and ideal position of the center of the core. The error includes the error of the hole in the matrix, the eccentricity of the core in the fiber, and the ovality of the fiber. The parameter depends on the number of fibers in the array.
